Pending ratification, Joasia “Jo” Zakrzewski of the United Kingdom, set the women’s 48-hour world record at the Taipei Ultramarathon last weekend, covering 255.6 miles, according to iRunFar.

Zakrzewski broke the record of 250.6 miles, set by Poland’s Patrycja Bereznowska in May 2022 at the UltraPark Weekend 48 Hour race in Poland.

Bereznowska finished second with 231.8 miles at the Taipei Ultramarathon.

Until now, according to iRunFar, Zakrzewski had never raced a 48-hour event and only had one 24-hour event under her belt prior to setting the world record. In that race, she set the U.K. record with 154 miles, according to British Athletics.

But Zakrzewski isn’t new to the ultramarathon. She has been racing ultramarathon events for 13 years, including the IAU 50K World Trophy and IAU 100K World Championships.
