With a dual-density midsole that has gel in the rearfoot, the GT-1000 7 gives kids adult-like cushioning and support. These shoes also feature Asics’ vertical flex grooves for smooth turnover, and the company’s "Trusstic system" that reduces weight while still providing midfoot stability. This is a feature-packed shoe for little runners that comes in at a reasonable price.

Kid-Approved Build

Our kid testers liked the feel of the fabric, noticing that it felt “soft” and “kinda stretchy.” They did feel like they were high off the ground in this shoe and the Kayano 25; there’s more midsole between them and the ground than in some other kid shoes we've reviewed this year. The GT-1000 7 ranked slightly higher in comfort among kid testers than the Kayano, likely due to the Kayano’s support making them feel a little more stiff.
